As a personal project, I've wanted to work on creating an environment in the post-apocalyptic setting in Unreal Engine 5. This involves designing the scene, finding references, creasing sketches and blockouts. I want to used 3D generation tools to create assets for the scene

Pre-Production Description

Isolated and abandoned orthodox church in a post-apocalyptic setting. Environment with a small graveyard, fences, and small sheds around. Volumetric + exponential fog with light setup. Overgrowth in the area, decay on the material of the building, and muted/desaturated colour palette for post-processing

  1. Core Elements

Church (main landmark)

Graveyard

Fallen/broken crosses, tilted gravestones, overgrowth.

Storage sheds / barns (practical structures nearby

Living spaces / small huts → priests’ quarters,

Well

  1. Secondary Elements

Fence / Gate old iron/wooden fences, half-collapsed (Frame the graveyard)

Pathways / Roads → muddy trails (guides the player’s eye)

Vegetation takeover / broken fences

Abandoned carts / tools / barrels (signs of sudden departure)

Collapsed buildings, caved in hut roof

  1. Narrative Details

Bell / broken tower (dangling ropes, cracked wood beams)

Icon fragments (faded Orthodox paintings, broken frames on the ground)

Waterlogged spots (puddles, swampy areas - reflections?)

Electric poles / wires (leaning, broken)

Main Props: wheelbarrow, broken carts, abandoned tools scattered in puddles.

Next I've used Excalidraw tool to sketch a few iterations of the environment
